Deuce's Two Cents: Week 7 Fantasy Football and MLB Playoff Excitement
October 19th, 2024
Welcome to Deuce's Two Cents! Hope everyone’s doing well and enjoying life as we head into the weekend. I’m excited tonight—been loving the MLB playoff series in both the National and American Leagues. My neighbor is a huge Guardians fan, which has made it a lot of fun to follow. I’m really looking forward to tonight’s Yankees game against the Guardians. The last two games were astounding, and I can’t wait to see what goes down tonight. It’s been enjoyable for me, and I hope the rest of the country is enjoying it as much as I am.
On a personal note—go Yankees! If they win, I’m putting my flag in the middle of the yard, even though it’s already out all year round. Just saying.
Now, onto Fantasy Football! Coming into Week 7, I’m sitting at 28 games above .500 across my leagues. Not sure if that’s good or not, but it feels pretty solid. It’s tough managing all those teams, but I’m having a lot of fun with it. Some people think I’m crazy because I work the waiver wire like it’s going out of style. My bad—but hey, it’s all part of my strategy to see what others are doing.
Let’s dive into some of the key matchups this week:
49ers vs. Chiefs
This is a big one. I know everyone is hoping for a Super Bowl rematch. The new receiver for the 49ers is back—will he have an impact? Jennings isn’t playing, and we’ll see which running back for the Chiefs hits the field. Both defenses are strong, so it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. As a Raiders fan, I need the Chiefs to lose, so I’m picking the 49ers. But honestly, this game could go either way—both teams have great coaches.
Steelers vs. Jets
A special shoutout to Mr. Adams! As a Raiders fan, I wish you nothing but the best. You gave it your all when you played for us, and I hope you enjoy your time in New York with Mr. Rodgers and your new team. That said, I think the Steelers will pull this one out. Coach Tomlin and his staff always find a way to get it done. Both teams are talented, and there’s a lot going on between their quarterback situations, but I’m rooting for the Steelers. I’ve been a fan of Justin Fields since before the preseason—I think he’s got huge potential and is just waiting to break out. But again, I’m not a coach, so what do I know?
Texans vs. Packers
This could be a Super Bowl preview! Both teams are packed with talent, and I expect this to be a shootout, much like the Baltimore-Cincinnati game. I’m picking the home team here, but it could easily go either way. Both sides have talented athletes and quarterbacks—it’s going to be a fun one to watch.
Rams vs. Raiders
I’m picking the Raiders for this one. My grandfather was a big Rams fan—he loved Eric Dickerson but struggled when Dieter Brock was their quarterback. I hope the Raiders split the series in LA, but honestly, you never know what’s gonna happen. I have a soft spot for the Rams, but my heart’s with the Raiders. Should be a great game either way.
All in all, it’s shaping up to be a fantastic weekend for football. Hope everyone stays safe and enjoys time with family. Prayers to all.
Blessed be,
Deuces.
