Deuce's Week 5 Curiosity: Raiders, Jets, and Some Yankees Love
Deuce's Week 5 Curiosity: Raiders, Jets, and Some Yankees Love
October 5th, 2024
Welcome to Deuce's Two Cents! Here’s my quick breakdown for Week 5. As you can see, I’m decked out in my Yankees gear because the playoffs start tonight—Go Yankees! It’s going to be a tough series, but exciting. Good luck to Coach Boone and the team!
Let’s dive into the football action, starting with the Raiders vs. Broncos game. Honestly, I don’t think it’s going to be the most thrilling matchup. Probably a back-and-forth affair, but here’s the thing: We’ve beaten Denver eight times in a row! I’m stoked about that. Game 9 is going to be tough, but I’ve got faith we can pull it off. A little personal nostalgia—growing up in LA, I went to a Raiders vs. Broncos game back in 1990, and we won 16-13. Here’s hoping for a repeat. Go Raiders!
Now, let’s move on to the Jets vs. Vikings. This one’s interesting for several reasons. Both teams really need this win. Minnesota especially—they’re in a tight spot. The Jets have a lot going on with trades, and Davante Adams being part of the conversation. But at the end of the day, none of us can control any of it, right? We’ll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. I’m putting my money on Minnesota for this one, though. Their defense is solid, and I think they’re going to give Aaron Rodgers a tough time, especially with his sore knee. Despite the Jets having two good backs, I don’t think they’ll find enough space to get the job done.
Speaking of fun games, the Ravens vs. Bengals should be a good one too. Both teams are in dire need of a win. I think the Bengals will pull it out, but it’s going to be a tough, high-scoring game. Definitely one to watch, especially if you’re into fantasy football. This one’s got entertainment written all over it!
Oh, and before I forget—Go Yankees again! I’m really hoping for another New York vs. LA World Series. Those matchups are legendary.
Now, for what I think will be the game of Week 5—the Chiefs vs. Saints. Both teams had rough moments last week with injuries and mishaps, but they’ve learned a lot about themselves. One big question I asked last week was, "How important is Taysom Hill to the Saints?" My answer? Just watch him play. The guy is an absolute game-changer. If you saw him in Week 4, you know what I’m talking about. He makes the Saints’ offense so much more dynamic and unpredictable. Defenses struggle to key in on him, and that opens up so many opportunities for the rest of the team.
I’m going to call it—the Saints will beat the Chiefs. Derek Carr, an old Raider, always seems to play well against Kansas City, and I think he’s going to come through big. So yeah, I’m rolling with the Saints this week.
That’s my take on Week 5 for Deuce’s Two Cents! Hope everyone has a great weekend, stays safe, and enjoys their football Sunday—or whatever sport you’re watching. And don’t forget to spend some quality time with your families.
Catch you next week!
